Freedom of the Press
- allows people the right to publicize writing, regards content
- the principal thought the articles were inappropriate
- Catherine Kuhlmeier thinks in unconstitutional and that no laws were broken
- the school wasn't required to publish it
Freedom of Speech
- Teachers want to teach kids about not protesting
- students want to be able to voice their opinions
- They protest against the teachers and wave signs.
Freedom of Assembly
- Lehman Brothers claimed to be bankrupt
- congress rejected bailout bill
- Banks are taking money thinking they have tons of money
- bailout money will help fund their companies and they can't get started without it
Freedom to Petition
- Pipeline is planned to be built
- pipelines can be highly flammable and people are signing a petition
- The pipeline is 2 to 4 feet underground and the gas is flammable
- the pipeline can help gas travel quicker and isn't as dangerous (if a truck got in an accident)
Freedom of Religion
- Muslims are surveillance by police
- protection for citizens
- not fair because it doesn't give them privacy
- need to respect their religions and doesn't mean they are all bad
